Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University

The University was established in 1918. Throughout its existence the University trained more than 130 thousands of specialists. Nowadays more than 20 thousands of students acquire an education according to 89 specialties; the foreign students and postgraduates from more than 20 countries of the world study there as well.

Taking into account the appreciation of performance results of Dnipropetrovsk State University at the domestic and international level, development and implementation of the most important government programs in the humanitarian field, availability of acknowledged experts and their scientific schools recognized at the nationwide and worldwide level, the status of national university was assigned to the University by the Decree of the President of Ukraine dd. September 11, 2000.

The University today is the Higher Educational Institution of IVth level if accreditation; multi-industry educational and scientific complex where 15 faculties, 3 study centers, postgraduate study department and centre for doctoral training, 3 research & development institutes, 90 departments function where 1700 lecturers work including 165 doctors habilitatus, professors and 640 candidates of sciences, associate professors. The University structure includes 5 colleges (machine-building college, pedagogical college, technical school of the rocket-space machine-building, college of economics and business, industrial college), a preparatory department (including department for foreigners), a Regional Centre of the continuous study “Prydniprovia”, 2 lyceums (under DNU) and others.
